Diesel Exhaust Fluid
AiRx™ Diesel Exhaust Fluid Information Beginning in 2010, the EPA will require every newly manufactured diesel engine to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. NOx is a compound that breaks down rapidly as it reacts with substances in the air, contributing to acid rain and the formation of ground level ozone or smog. What is DEF? The leading technology in NOx reduction for diesel engines is Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), a process that requires a reducing agent known as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). DEF is an ultra high purity 32.5% urea solution that, when injected into exhaust gas, will break down NOx molecules into harmless nitrogen and water. Airgas supplies DEF under the brand AiRx™. AiRx™ Diesel Exhaust Fluid complies with ISO 22241 and is API certified. The infrastructure to deliver DEF in the United States is under development. However, Airgas Specialty Products has the supply, expertise and distribution capabilities to successfully deliver DEF coast to coast. Whether you need 1 gallon of DEF, a truckload, or anything in between, you'll find it with Airgas. For more information on AiRx™ Diesel Exhaust Fluid, request a quote or call 1-866-977-4DEF (4333).
